Police said three people abandoned a baby in a carrier when confronted about stealing merchandise on Jan. 18. The child was less than 2 months old, according to PPD.

Alganon Muhammad, the baby's 22-year-old father, was arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with retail theft, conspiracy, and related counts, police said at the time. He was held for trial after a preliminary hearing on Feb. 8.

Haamza Muhammad, the baby's grandfather, now faces the same charges, authorities said. He remains in custody in Chester County on an unrelated case.
